TENDA - Montessori Based Play Structure
Project
Design a play structure for young children that fosters creativity and encourages learning in the classroom environment.
Process
In many classrooms, a child's creativity is often limited. Traditional play structures typically follow predetermined designs and may not prioritize learning.
This is me… a Montessori kid.
Solution
As a Montessori student from preschool through eighth grade, I aimed to incorporate Montessori based learning within a play structure that enabled child to unleash their creativity.
“What the hand does the mind remembers.” - Maria Montessori
"Any child who is self-sufficient, who can tie his shoes, dress or undress himself, reflects in his joy and sense of achievement the image of human dignity, which is derived from a sense of independence." - Maria Montessori
The Montessori Dressing Frames inspired me to create a play structure that encourages children to practice zipping, tying, and snapping. These activities help to develop their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and concentration.
